Facebook Messenger users are infecting with malware that mines Cryptocurrency

Security researchers at Trend Micro (‘a cyber security firm’) found a robot named as Digimine, the purpose of this robot is to target the Computers running  Facebook Messenger, infect them with a malware and mine cryptocurrency.

The Security researcher who found this malware said ” Digimine is spreading really fast and attacking at the Computer as much as possible, in order to mine Monero Coins – an alternative to bitcoins”.

They further added to it, infected Facebook Messenger account can fully be controlled by attackers and they could also take over your Facebook account.

This malware robot (‘Digimine’) is actually designed as it looks familiar to a video file that user can easily be targeted.

It secretly infects the machines with malware as many as possible, but it works only when it injected through a desktop version of the Messenger on Google Chrome. Yeah, it will not work on mobile version as it works on the desktop version, but we aren’t able to said that the malware have zero impact on mobile, it may have or not.

It still attacking the machines and considered really dangerous, and helps the cyber criminals to mine the cryptocurrencies.

Its other impacts of this malware are, attacker can take over your account and with the help of your Facebook account they attack at your friends computer and it also can slow your system down.

According to the researcher, it attacked different locations in the world the most of the people are from, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Vietnam, Ukraine, Philippines, Venezuela and Azerbaijan.

In this worst situation Facebook said, we are maintaining number of systems that help us to scan and stop such harmful files and links found on Messenger. If we find that your computer is infected with such kind of malware then we will can your computer with anti-virus. And this will be done free of cost.
